Experience the heart-centered way of life that is Kausay & share
as an integral part of the community.

Volunteering

Volunteering gives individuals, couples or families the opportunity to stay at KAUSAY for longer periods while experiencing life as one of the community members. It’s a safe and loving space where one is free to be themselves, while contributing their energy, ideas and presence to the vision unfolding. During spring and summer we have a bell tent to accommodate volunteers, in fall and winter we can only welcome volunteers who bring their own camper van.

Throughout the year we have 2 yurts available for longer term renting, giving the possibility to families, couples or individuals to have an in depth experience of life lived off grid and developing a project like Kausay. This experience can help you in setting up your own project in the future or maybe become one of the permanent residents at Kausay.

What can you expect?
  • A loving & nurturing environment for you to be you.
  • Healthy, vegetarian/vegan meals shared with others.
  • The opportunity to learn new skills such as building & organic gardening.
  • An experience of living in nature.
  • Time and space for your own interests and projects.
  • To be a part of the community and contribute to the vision of KAUSAY.

What is asked of you?
  • Come with sincere intentions of being of service.
  • Willingness to share and learn new skills.
  • Taking initiative in areas where you feel you can.
  • Maturity & self-responsible.
  • Able to be on your own.
Focus & Projects

Having been neglected for well over 10 years, the land of KAUSAY is now receiving daily attention into reforestation; trimming, pruning and planting native trees, herbs and flowers.

We aim to eat our own organically grown produce as much as possible. Daily energy is going into the gardens, creating fertile soil, planting and harvesting.

We are in the process of reconstruction the over 4 hundred year old ruin that is one of the gems of Kausay. We want to do this in a natural and traditional way, using wood from our own forest, soil from the spot and our own hands.

We have a number of creative projects circling in our minds that we would like to see come to life. If you have certain creative skills (photography, crafts, etc) or a propensity to create new things, there is plenty of space to do so.

Each day, nourishing vegetarian meals are prepared, so if you enjoy creating in the kitchen, come my friends come!

We would like to start preserving foods.  If you have any knowledge of fermenting, pickling, drying, etc, we could use some assistance in this area.

Details & Questions

Upon receiving and accepting your application, we will send you a complete list of what items to bring for your stay.

Depending the time of the year and other factors, various accommodations may be available. Once you contact us or apply, we can explore the options with you.

If you have any special dietary needs such as gluten free, let us know. Depending on the request, we should be able to accommodate.

You will fly into Valencia or Alicante airports and from there, take a train to Xativa train station. We will arrange to pick you up from there and bring you to Kausay.

Cell phone reception is not accessible at KAUSAY but can be reached with a 1 minute walk from the property. We do have internet onsite but ask that volunteers use their cell phones to access the internet as our usage is limited and is only used for community purposes. There are also plenty of places in town where you can get online as well.

Once your application is received and we feel its a good fit, we can discuss the length of stay that would work best for you and us.

Each day we discuss the prioritized projects going on at that time and distribute them according to interest. We are typically involved with projects and other communal activities 3 to 5 hours a day (depending on many factors). Also, depending on the weather, the times we start and stop will vary as well.

In your free time, you can

  • Go on hikes through the valley.
  • Visit the fuente (natural springs) and waterfalls.
  • Go for bicycle rides through the valley or to town.
  • Take horse riding lessons at our neighbors.
  • Work on your own practices, projects or hobbies.
  • Relax in the hammock and read a book.

We are asking a € 5,- contribution a day for the basic costs of your stay such as food, gas, water, toilet paper etc.

Although we are not actively looking for new residents, we are open to what life may bring. Start as a volunteer and we’ll see what comes of it.
